Directions
- Workshop (January 12, 2019) consists of a written / performance review. Check-in for the workshop begins at 6:30 a.m. Students can expect to be finished at approximately 3 p.m.
- Test (January 19, 2019) includes the 60-minute written exam followed by the performance (hands-on) exam. Check-in for the test begins at 6:30 a.m. and the test will begin at 7:00 a.m. The doors will be locked and those that are late will not be allowed to take the exam.
- A valid ID is required on the day of the test. The ID will be held until the Examinee completes and turns in their test(s) booklet/answer sheet.
- Pricing: Includes the review, CP-44 workbook, hands-on practice, and exam. Books will not be mailed. However, arrangements can be made for pick-up.
- Meals: Breakfast and lunch is provided during the workshop and breakfast is provided during the test.
- Physical Strength Requirement: You must be able to lift at least 45 lbs when performing some of the performance tests. No exceptions without a valid doctor’s note stating that you are not able to lift 45 lbs.
- PPE: Steel or composite-toed shoes, long pants, safety glass and gloves are required.

- Interpreters: While we do not provide interpreters, we do have examiners that speak Spanish and Farsi that are able to assist with questions. Please make sure you annotate this on your registration.
- Refund Policy: Refunds may be issued on a case-by-case basis, up until 14 days prior to the workshop. There will be a $25.00 service fee charged for refunds. No refunds will be issued within 14 days of the workshop. A one-time transfer will be allowed within the 14 days if notice is given prior to the day before the workshop. There will be a $25.00 service fee for transferring.
- Waiver: The attached waiver (see below) must be filled out and brought to class.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
An Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 1 is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record and report the results of basic field and laboratory procedures for aggregates.
Scope and Knowledge:
The program requires a working knowledge of the following AASHTO/ASTM standards:

Job-task analysis (JTA) for ACI Aggregate Testing Technician—Level 1
Certification Requirements:
ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who meet both of the following requirements:
- A passing grade on the ACI written examination; AND
- Successful completion of the ACI performance examination.
The two-hour written examination is open-book and consists of approximately 100 multiple-choice questions. There are between eight and twelve questions on each of the standards. To pass the written examination, BOTH of the following conditions must be met:
- At least 60% correct for each of the required standards; AND
- A minimum score of 70% overall.
The performance examination is also "closed book" and requires actual demonstration of the required standards. The examinee is judged on his/her ability to correctly perform all of the required procdures for each standard.
Recertification is necessary every five years and requires successful completion of both the written and performance examinations.

Although the workbook is included with the pricing, if you would like to get your workbooks before the workshop, you may arrange to pick it up from the ACI Houston Office. Workbooks will not be mailed.
